"A Simple Wooden Lamp with an utterly enchanting UI" - Wired Magazine
Most lights turn on one of two ways: Flip a switch or turn a knob. The Float Balance Lamp relies on none of these mechanisms.
The lamp’s construction is simple. It consists of a wooden frame; a strip of embedded lights; and two wooden balls, each attached to a string. Lift the bottom ball into close proximity with the upper ball to activate the lights. Once there, magnets inside the wooden spheres keep them in place.
The interaction echoes an old-school pull chain, but the final effect feels more enchanting—like there’s some unusual technology whirring below the surface. There are no sensors hiding in its bent frame, and it requires a human hand to operate.
This creative small lamp is suitable for the study, bedroom, etc. Most types of rooms will benefit from this lamp, as besides a source of light it is also a piece of art.
We adopted a design where the lighting element is embedded into the frame so the light can find its way out. The gentle curve makes it easy to the eye and calming.
The outside frame of the lamp is made of beech, making it natural and warm to the touch. We wanted to let you feel close to nature, that is why we selected high quality wood.
